Fall on Me

I can't quite figure out the cat's rationale for repetitively circling figure-eight style through my legs when she's hungry and I'm walking down the stairs. 
Why does she think this is a good strategy? 
Has she considered how I will feed her when I'm in the hospital with a broken neck?
See that's the trouble with cats. No foresight.
