Get Down On It

The experts say that when you want to talk with a child you should get down on one knee so that you and they will be at eye level.
The problem is that when I get down on one knee to talk to my kids, they mimic me and get down on one knee too.
So what's a just-trying-to-be-a-good mother supposed to do? Lie on the floor and look up at them?

Ha!

I haven't had this exact thing happen (yet!) but I bet it's only a matter of time. My toddler is 27 months and mimics just about everything I do. My arms are crossed? So are hers. I scratch my head? So does she.

It's kind of flattering and annoying all at once, eh?

It's just very funny when it happens. My five year old continues to do this even though I've explained that I'm kneeling so we can talk "face to face."
With the twins I just pick them up and sit them down on the kitchen countertop.
