E is for Elvis

The King of Rock and Roll was 42 when he was found dead in the upstairs bathroom of his mansion, Graceland, supporting the finings that there are more bathroom-related deaths every year then there are shark attacks.
For years I had a framed poster of Elvis in the downstairs bedroom we used as an office. I remember the time one of my sons pointed to it and asked me, “how are we related to that guy?"

I find it amazing that Elvis has numerous fans who weren't even alive at the time of his death.

My dad was in the Army with Elvis in Germany, wayyyy back when during peacetime. That was always his claim to fame, since he had pictures of them together. Back then, he was a soft-spoken kid, though he was already famous.

I also find it amazing that his popularity lives on in generations who have been born since his death.

And fun (weird fun) fact: I can't even tell you how many people I've known who have died in their bathrooms. It seems if you're going to die at home, it's probably going to be in the middle of the night in your bathroom.
